PLAY FOR A BETTER LIFE
THE MOST UNIQUE SPORTS FOR DEVELOPMENT NGO IN GHANA
Feel the power of sport.
ANOPA is an international sports project based in Cape Coast, Ghana. The NGO was founded in 2010 and uses sports, such as swimming, football and basketball, as an instrument for individual development, promotion of gender equity, peace building, inclusion and other important soft and social skills for kids in the Central Region of Ghana.
Our approach is based on the concept of sports for development - sport is not just an end in itself, but also an effective tool to help improve the lives of children, families and communities
Get involved - Volunteer with us.
As an ANOPA coach you'll organize & manage one or several of our sport disciplines such as football, volleyball, basketball, swimming and others.
All-Inclusive Sport for Development
With our inclusive projects we fight stigmatization of differently abled children and adolescents in Ghana through sports.
With this module ANOPA Project gives scholarships, enrollment and food and educational accessories to the highly vulnerable deaf and blind children.
Awareness on disability support programs (deaf/blind)
ANOPA Project organizes community seminars and programs to educate the deaf and blind community on the importance of education and the need to take part in inclusive sport.
ANOPA offers free training in vocational & technical skills which includes tailoring, hairdressing, shoe making, barbering etc. for deaf/blind youth. Beneficiaries are given free tools & equipment as start-up after training.
Our social enterprise module helps in the sustainability of project activities and at the same time rendering employable skills to deaf/blind youth.
Other social enterprise modules include, tourism & hospitability (social accommodation for travelers), traditional naming ceremony for international patrons and traditional music and dance lessons etc.
International volunteers are given the opportunity to implement own initiatives in their field of expertise such as dancing, poetry, recreational activities, native language teaching & environmental sustainability (cleanup exercises under 'nothin leaves Earth Project') that may influence positive behavioral & environmental change in the community.
