DISTRICT STAKEHOLDERS MEETING ON THE HOLISTIC DEVELOPMENT OF CHILDREN WITH VISUAL IMPAIRMENT IN THE CENTRAL REGION.

The ANOPA Project of Ghana in partnership with Visio International held the first district stakeholders seminar on the Holistic Development of Children with Visual Impairment on Tuesday, 16th April in Cape Coast. The Seminar which is the first of its kind in the Central Region brought together stakeholders both from the Government Institutions and the Private Sector including NGOs, NPOs, Community Leaders among others.

Present at the seminar were representatives from the Cape Coast School for the Blind and Deaf, Ghana National Inclusive School, Ghana National College, Social Welfare Department, Regional Coordinating Council, District Nurses including Optometrists Parents and some visually impaired students and persons within the community.

Also present at the seminar were the Country Director of Visio International, Mr. Jeremiah Badusayer and the Project Coordinator of ANOPA Project, Ms. Elsina Akweley Annang who stood in for the Executive Director, Mr. Ernest Appiah.

Discussions and presentations were centered on the holistic approach to adopt in all interventions geared towards the development of the visually impaired children and persons with respect to education, health, sport, vocation and integration.

The Seminar was successful and all stakeholders were encouraged to work diligently in bridging the gap between the society and differently-abled children and persons (visually impaired) in order to help them achieve their full potential. ANOPA Project and Visio International welcome Institutions with Programs and Proposals that is geared towards the holistic development of visually impaired children for support.
